We had a wonderful day of relaxation and fellowship in the classroom today! Thanks to all parents and guardians for supporting your children in making our gift exchange a success.
If you have not handed in your December book review, your advent flip book, or your Canadian Travel Brochure, be sure to finish it over the break.
Upcoming field trip: Our class will be spending 3 afternoons throughout January at Granite Curling Club, learning how to curl! We will need at least 1 parent volunteer for each of the following dates. No curling experience required!

Secret Angel Gift Exchange tomorrow! Remember that, if you have not yet brought a gift for your secret angel ($10 max), it is extremely important for you to bring it tomorrow. We open gifts first thing in the morning!

Tomorrow we will be spending the morning decorating Gingerbread houses! There is a note coming home with details today. We organized ourselves into small groups today. There is a small amount of candy that is included with each kit. If students wish, they can bring additional treats to use as decoration tomorrow. Reminder that any food brought into the class must be nut free.

Health - Today we finished Theme 3, with a discussion about growing up, and earning freedoms as we get older by proving that we are responsible. Each student had a chance to reflect on the theme, and is bringing one last handout home to discuss with their parent/guardian. This page should go back into your health book.

Religion - We had more time to work on our Advent Flip-book assignment. This is due by the end of the day on the 20th.
Social - We had some time today to work on our Canadian Travel Brochures. These are due on Friday.
Arts - Today we spent art class in the Art room, painting our acrylic winter landscapes! Most students finished their paintings today, a few will get one more class to complete them.
Math - Today was our last class to work on this unit instruction. We worked on solving equations that include division and multiplication. Complete and hand this page in for tomorrow.
Tomorrow, we will start our Unit Reviews. Our unit test is on Tuesday, December 17th.
Due to today's band concert, our Unit 8 Spelling Quiz was moved to tomorrow.

It will run from the 16th to the 20th, with nice gestures or acts of kindness happening from Monday to Thursday, and a small gift ($10 limit) being opened on Friday morning. Math - Today we learned how to use Inspection or Isolation strategies to solve equations using addition and subtraction. Please complete our assignment for tomorrow. Pg 24-25 Q 1-8(9).
Religion - We had more time to complete our Jesus and his Family assignment, which is due tomorrow. Remember to complete the Reflection question in your reflection journal.
Health - Today we learned about the major organs of the male and female reproduction systems. Each student is bringing home a sheet listing what they learned today, as well as any questions they still have. Please take the time to discuss this with your parents, and ask any future questions.

Christmas Hampers - Notes were sent home yesterday for each student, with what they have been assigned to bring as a donation for our class' Christmas hamper to help a family in need. You can bring your non-perishable items any time from now until December 16th.
ELA - Today some of us had time to research a school to write our letter to in the Great Canadian Mail Race. We will have more time to research this later this week.
Math - We continued practicing creating equations with variables to describe word problems. Finish and hand in the practice page for tomorrow.
Religion - Today we read through the bible passages describing Jesus' birth, and had a short assignment associated with it. This should be completed for Thursday. We will have more time to work on it tomorrow.
