 Reminder: No school on Friday - Teacher PLD

We are continuing to collect Christmas Hamper donations for the rest of the week.

Math - We practiced solving equations. Complete the practice page and hand it in to Miss Paul by tomorrow.

Arts - We started sketching our designs onto our Christmas Canvasses today. We will paint them next week!

ELA - We had time to type our good copies for our Canadian Mail Race today. We will print these off during next computer class on the 13th, so make sure yours is completed by then.

Social Studies - Reminder that your Culture posters are due to be presented in 1 week, on the 14th.

Tuesday, October 4th

 Math - We practiced our estimation skills, and using estimation to check answers. Complete and hand in the handout for tomorrow, so that I can check for your understanding.

We have now completed all of the lessons for Unit 1. We will start our review tomorrow, and we will write our Unit 1 Test on Wednesday of next week.

Arts - We worked on our 4 winds turtles today. Aim to complete these by the end of the week.

ELA - In Word Work, we learned about the parts of a sentence, including the Subject and the Predicate.

Computers - We continued our work on Typing.com. Finish up to the lesson on C, G, and N Keys before our next computer class next week.

Tuesday, September 27th

 Math - We had a practice assignment on rounding and estimating addition questions. Be sure to complete and hand this in by tomorrow, so that I can check for your understanding.

Arts - We had another class to work on our Four Winds Turtles. We will get 2 more classes to work on this, and it will be due next week.

ELA - Reminder: Book Reviews are due on Thursday.

Health - We will get 1 more class to work on our "When Bullying Happens" assignment, which will be due on Thursday.

Computers - We started working on a new online Math practice program, called Prodigy. Students will be bringing a note home with their log-in info, and more details about the program.

Tuesday, September 6th

 Grade 4 Math Review - We are reviewing our Grade 4 math concepts before a Number skills assessment. Complete questions 1-13 for tomorrow.

ELA - Today we started a new task, creating a timeline of major events of our lives. We will get time over the next 2 weeks to work on this.

Arts - Today we created our Art Portfolios, to store our artwork for the year.

Spelling - We wrote our spelling benchmark quiz today. Later this week, we will start our regular spelling program, with level-appropriate words.

Tuesday, June 21st, 2022

 Swimming tomorrow afternoon! 

If you still have not returned your permission form, you must do so, in order to attend. You can bring 50 cents if you wish you use a locker.

Reminder: We are attending Lakeview Pool. Since the pool is a bit farther away, we will be leaving the school on the bus at 12:15. 

If you typically go home for lunch, consider bringing a lunch and eating at school tomorrow, unless you are sure you can be back at school by 12:05 at the latest.

Math - We continued our work on our Grade 5 Numeracy Review. Complete all questions on the review by Thursday. On Thursday, we will write our BCM benchmark assessment.

Social Studies - Our Trading Post projects are due tomorrow.

ELA - Book Reviews Due on Friday.

Spelling Quiz on Friday.

Other Tasks:

 Important note for swimming field trip on June 22nd: As we are going a bit further (Lakewood Civic Center) we will be leaving a bit earlier than the time listed on the note that went home yesterday. We will be leaving the school at 12:15. Our expected return time is still 3:15.

Term 3 Assignment Deadline is on Friday.
Math - Continue working on your Unit 8 reviews. We will have class time tomorrow to go over any questions you still have as a class. Our unit test in on Thursday.

Spelling - We will have a spelling quiz tomorrow. We had time today to work on our practice pages or study with a partner. 

Arts - We had time to work on our Comic Covers. Any incomplete assignments in your art portfolios should be completed by the end of the week.

ELA - We will get more time tomorrow to work with our partners on our prepared readings, and share on Thursday.

 Science - Make sure that you have completed your Unit Vocabulary handout, with the definitions from each of the terms we have covered in class. This should be finished by Friday.

Math - We started our new unit, on Transformations. Today we talked about Translations. Complete the following text questions:
 Pg 298-299, 1-6(7)

ELA - We continued working on our Future Autobiographies today. Our rough copies should be complete and checked with Mr. Saganski by Tuesday.

Religion - We had time to complete our Beatitude Commitment assignment today. This task is due tomorrow.

Reminder: Return your Batoche permission forms (both of them) and your band registration form. If you need extra copies, they are posted on the Reminders board, or see Mr. Saganski.

Tuesday, May 10th, 2022

 Spell-A-Thon - We got time to practice our Words today. Our test is next Wednesday, May 18th. Fundraising is due this Thursday.

Math - We worked on practice problems about the language of probability and using spinners to predict outcomes. Complete and hand in today's assignment for tomorrow.

Outdoor Track Meet on Thursday morning (If it is raining, we will run it on Monday instead.) We will have 1 more Long-Jump practice before then, as a class.

Wednesday, March 30th

We are still accepting donations for Development and Peace for the rest of the week. All proceeds will go to support humanitarian efforts in Ukraine.

ELA - Keep working on your Group Creative Tasks! Complete your scripts by Friday.

Math - We learned about different types of Quadrilaterals (4-sided shapes) and how to identify them using their attributes. We worked on the following text questions: Pg 232-233, Qs, 1-3, 5-7 (4, 8)

Health - Our Nutrition Labels assignment is due tomorrow, and our Vitamins and Minerals research task is due on Friday. We will get time to finish our research in the computer lab tomorrow morning.

Spelling - We wrote our Week 13 quiz today, and got our Week 14 wordlists.

Monday, March 13th, 2022

Our Term 2 Portfolios will be sent home TOMORROW, not today. 
I sent out a survey today to all parents/guardians, to indicate your preferred format for our 3-Way Conference this Thursday/Friday. It takes less than a minute to complete. Please be sure to complete this before Thursday.

Math - We worked on an assignment exploring mL and L as units of measurement. Complete and hand in the practice assignment for tomorrow.

ELA - We had time to work on our Tuck Everlasting individual projects today. Reminder that rough-copies should be complete by Thursday.

Science - We had time to work on our Rube Goldberg Designs. These are due on Monday.

 Spelling - We wrote our quiz on Week 11 words today. 

Math - We worked on an assignment to find all rectangles of given areas, and the perimeter of each rectangle.


Science - Today we worked as a class to find information on the uses of inclined planes and wedges.


ELA - Reminder that all Tuck Everlasting section questions, along with your Info Booklet, should be fully completed and handed in by the end of the day tomorrow.


February break starts after Friday! No School next week. Return on February 28th.

 Math - We had a practice assignment on Area and Perimeter today, along with an extra practice page for those who need it. Complete and hand in the Assignment for Monday.

ELA - Reminder that Tuck Everlasting Section 7 questions are due on Monday.

Arts - Complete your 1-point perspective letters assignment for next week. Today we made mini "mailboxes" for our Valentine's Day deliveries on Monday. Bringing Valentines is optional, but if you do want to bring some, please bring some for everyone. I've posted the class list of names under "Classwork". Reminder that any edible treats must be store-bought and individually packaged.

Moving Day on Monday! Try to take home any extra clutter today, to make the move easier.

 Computers - We've started our Intermediate lessons on Typing.com. Complete up to the end of "Easy Home Row Words" by Thursday, Feb 17th.

Math - Today we learned about the Area and Perimeter of rectangles. Complete the following questions in the text for tomorrow:
  Pg 130. Qs 2-4, 6-7 (8)
Graph paper is recommended. If you don't have it, be sure you are clearly labelling the length of each side of each rectangle.

Science - We started exploring the next simple machine, the Wheel and Axle. We gathered information from the text to complete an assignment (posted on Classwork). Complete this page for Monday.

Arts - Today was our last class to work on our 1 Point Perspective letters task. Complete yours before we start a new task next week.

Moving Day - Unless there are delays, we plan on moving back to our fancy "new" home classroom on Monday!

Math - We had time to work on a practice assignment on measuring length using m, cm, and mm. Complete and hand in the practice assignment for tomorrow. We had an additional page on converting between units of measurement, for those who would like the extra practice.

Religion - In our exploration of types of prayer, we practiced a guided meditation today, with a focus on Kindness. We wrote a response to the activity in our Religion Journals.

ELA - We started work on our Section 7 questions. This assignment is due on Monday. Section 6 questions were due today.
