Math - Our Grade 5's started working on a practice assignment, reviewing their rounding and estimation skills. They will get time to finish and hand in this task tomorrow. Our Grade 6's practiced comparing and ordering Integers. Grade 6 students should finish the following text questions for tomorrow:

We also started working on a new online platform for Math practice: Prodigy. Students can use the log-in info they got today to access this platform at home for extra practice.

ELA - Reminder that our story assignment (Gross / Boy and Mountain) is due tomorrow, and our first Book Review is due on Monday.

Social Studies - We started working on our "Every Child Matters" orange shirt designs today. We will finish these on Monday. Remember that Monday is also Orange Shirt Day, to show solidarity with those who have been affected by the Canadian Residential School system.

Word Work - We had time to review our Set 1 words today. Reminder we have a quiz on Monday.

Terry Fox Run tomorrow. You can bring donations for cancer research all week long.

Math - Today we reviewed Rounding and Estimating (We all worked on the same material today, as this was valuable review for the Gr 6's). Finish the following questions from the Gr5 text for tomorrow (Gr 6 go this as a handout): Pg 51-52, Qs 4, 6a, 7a, 8-11

ELA - We had time to continue working on our ELA story assignments. We'll get one more class period to finish this task, and it will be at the end of the week. Reminder: Book Reviews are due in 1 week on September 29th.

Word Work - On alternating weeks, instead of Spelling, we will have short Grammar lessons in our Word Work. Today, we learned about the different types of sentences, and reviewed end-sentence punctuation (remember to use it!)

Terry Fox walk on Friday afternoon. We're accepting donations all week towards cancer research. All students are encouraged to bring $1 if they can, or more if they wish.

Bishop Pocock school community BBQ tomorrow at 5:30! Come enjoy a hot-dog with your family. Hope to see you there!

Social Studies - We had our Canada Map quiz today, and handed in our Map assignments as well.

Math - Students had time to finish and hand in yesterday's assignment, and then moved on with some extra practice on representing decimal numbers. Make sure yours is handed in, so that I can check for your understanding!

ELA - We had time to finish reading our first ELA story assignment (Gross / Boy and Mountain), and start writing our re-tellings. We will continue with this after the weekend. Make sure your Story Map is completed by Monday.

Terry Fox Run next week on Friday afternoon. Today we took some time to learn about Terry's story and his Marathon of Hope. Terry's goal was to raise 1 dollar for every Canadian, so each of us is encouraged to bring 1 dollar (or more) if they can, to donate to the Terry Fox Foundation. All money raised will go towards Cancer research. We also wrote about our response to Terry's story in our Reflection Journals this morning.

Reminder: Bishop Pocock Community BBQ is on Tuesday at 5:30. We hope you and your family can make it!
